Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday turned down heavily on Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and turned the state BJP members as 'Pujaris" of PM Narendra Modi.

Addressing the media, Tarun Gogoi said, “Members of the state BJP is turning into ‘Pujaris’ of Modi and this is being aided by the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) who speaks of regionalism but in reality, they are just greedy for power. The regional organizations have also failed to a certain extent.”
He added, “Our opposition will not count until the people of Assam oppose the Bill. In Assam, the Assamese have to be given priority including the tribal people. But the BJP and RSS are trying to impose ‘One Nation One Language’ and now even ‘one political party’.”
Gogoi also took a jibe at Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over his remark of not knowing MP Pradyut Bordoloi. He said, “Now Himanta will not know anything—nor syndicates—nor Luis Berger scam and not even Tarun Gogoi. All he knows now is the ‘Hindu Rashtra’.”
The former CM also termed the BJP party as ‘Third Category Party’.
