Silchar: Parimal Suklabaidya, Minister for Environment and Forest, Fisheries and Excise, laid the foundation stone for model high schools at Borjelenga and Monierkhal tea estates under Dholai constituency on Sunday (November 1).
As part of the flagship initiative of Assam Government to construct 119 model schools across tea gardens areas of the state.
Minister Suklabaidya said the Sonowal led Government has accorded top priority to the education sector and the latest initiative will give a huge impetus to the tea tribes community by providing them with quality education.

Emphasising on the importance of quality education, the Minister exhorted the teachers for dedicated efforts to provide quality education to the students.
He also lauded the government for taking various initiatives for the development of education in the state in the past four and a half years. "Unlike in the past, the present government has brought about a sea change in the education firmament through a slew of laudable initiatives," Suklabaidya added.
The Minister also laid the foundation stone for another model high school at Monierkhal tea estate.
Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Keerthi Jalli was also present at both the functions.
At Itachara under Udharbond constituency, MLA Mihir Kanti Shome laid the foundation stone in presence of MP Dr.Rajdeep Roy while at Hatichera under Borkhola constituency, Dr.Rajdeep Roy laid the foundation stone in presence of MLA Borkhola, Kishor Nath.
