Guwahati Professor grilled by police after ‘controversial’ Facebook post

Guwahati, March 4, 2019:

Papri Banerjee, a Lecturer of English at Guwahati’s Icon College, came under intense scrutiny after making controversial comments on social media networking site, Facebook after the Pulwama attack. The Professor has faced a grilling by police on March 4 in Guwahati.

It is to be mentioned that Banerjee went absconding after an FIR was filed against her after a controversial post on social media where she alleged that the Indian Army jawans are ‘murderers’ and ‘rapists’.

Although she has been granted interim anticipatory bail in both the Chandmari and Silchar PS cases, she has been asked to furnish a bail bond of Rs. 15,000 by the Gauhati High Court. Moreover, she has been directed to appear and cooperate before the investigating officer within three days.
