Guwahati: Assam Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday claimed that Hagrama Mohilary treats the people of the Bodo Territorial Region (BTR) like broiler chickens.

Speaking at a rally, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that over the past 15 years, Hagrama Mohilary has not done anything for the people of the BTAD. “Hagrama Mohilary has made people of the BTAD feel like venture school where they are not given anything. During elections, we see that Hagrama sits on the stage like a king and our girls dance in front of him but after the election, there are not given any jobs or any government benefits”, he added.

Sarma further added that, moreover, the father of these girls are not even permitted to sell their own land.

“Once BJP comes to power in the BTAD, we will give equal land rights to everyone. People will get permission to sell or buy land within just 30 days. There will be no 1st class or 2nd class citizens in the region as we are all a part of Assam", Sarma added.

He further alleged that Hagrama Mohilary had not even spared the widows. “He even siphoned funds belonging to the widows’ pension scheme. We assure that once we come into power, every widow above the age of 60 will get pension without paying a single rupee bribe”, he added.

Sarma claimed that the people in the region now need change and on December 15, the BJP will form the government in the BTC "without any doubt".

Sarma urged all the “good BPF” members to come forward and join the BJP.

He also promised the people of Tamulpur that a new Degree level government college would be set up in Tamulpur and the construction will begin from January 2 onwards. "The college will include all three streams", the minister added.
