Speaking on the economic slowdown in the country, Tarun Gogoi opined that it would slump even further due to the wrong treatment of the BJP. Calling Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman an incompetent doctor, the ex CM said that due to her incompetence, the economy would fall.
“We are seeing that the economic development is declining. It will decline further due to wrong treatment. The doctor is incompetent, because of which, it has resulted in the sufferings of the ordinary people. The Budget says that it would benefit the ordinary. However, it is anti-people and is only meant for the corporates,” said Tarun Gogoi.

Talking about the Union Budget, the former Assam CM said that the Budget was for the benefit of the corporates. “The Prime Minister only listens to the Mann Ki Baat of the corporates. Everyone knows that after taking loans, they don’t repay. This has resulted in a tremendous loss of banks. Crores of rupees have been wasted yet corporate tax rates were slashed. People are in distress now. Irrigation, Food subsidy, MNREGA, Fertilizer subsidy...all these have been increased but the government has decreased the allocation now.”
