Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is still in a dilemma as to who the party would give tickets from Nagaon and Tezpur for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections this year.
The list is to be finalised today where MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa has the probability of getting the ticket from Tezpur while Rupak Sarmah is being shortlisted from Nagaon, as per reports.
However, as per the rumours mill, Rita Gohain, wife of State Railway Minister Rajen Gohain who shall not contest the elections this time around, is also in the queue for the ticket from Nagaon. Meanwhile
There has been much controversy over the Tezpur as sitting MP RP Sarmah resigned from primary membership of the party after his name was not in the list of names shortlisted from the Constituency. Himanta Biswa Sarma was also rumoured to contest the election from Tezpur, but as per latest reports, his name is nowhere to be seen in the list of frontrunners to contest from the Constituency.
The elections will be held in Assam in three phases on April 11, 18 and 23.
