The ITPKA (Indigenous Tribe Protection of Karbi Anglong) called a bandh for 48-hours from December 12th to 14th.
They demanded the scraping of Clause 8 of Bodo peace accord and implementation of Article 244 (A) (formation of an autonomous State comprising certain tribal areas in Assam and creation of local Legislature or Council of Ministers or both) in the three hill districts of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao.
Train services, however, were exempted from the bandh. The bandh has been called by Dima Hasao Union (DSU), Khasi Students Union (KSU), Hmar Students Association (HSA), and Karbi Students Association (KSA).
