Guwahati: As a continuing bid to seal the deal on the Naga peace talks, Assam Minister and Northeast Democratic Alliance (NEDA) Convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma will meet former Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang in Guwahati today.
According to reports, Sarma has been assigned by the national leadership of the BJP party to hammer out a solution to the ongoing Naga peace talks process. Sarma is tasked with getting everyone on board before a final agreement is inked over the protracted Naga issue. Shah reportedly wants to have all political parties and legislators come together so as to endorse the October 15 resolutions.
Earlier, Sarma had also reminded NPF to endorse the October 15 consultative meeting resolutions.

This comes a day after Sarma visited Kohima on a one-day lightning visit on Sunday to meet with state chief minister Neiphiu Rio.
According to reports in the media, Sarma has been keeping in touch with both chief minister Neiphiu Rio and opposition NPF leader T.R. Zeliang over the Naga political issue.
Sarma’s visit to Kohima also assumes significance in the light of discussions held between chief minister Neiphiu Rio and leader of opposition T.R. Zeliang on the vexed Naga political issue with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on October 20. Both leaders have called for an early solution to the decades-old insurgency in the state.
Shah reportedly wants all to have all political parties and legislators come together so as to endorse the October 15 resolutions. However, many sections of the public are opposed to the October 15 resolutions.
Earlier, Sarma had also reminded NPF to endorse the October 15 consultative meeting resolutions.
According to reports, the NEDA Convenor Sarma was also concerned about the frosty relationship between PDA and NPF following the withdrawal of the latter from the Joint Legislators’ Forum.
