Three-time former Chief Minister of Assam and senior Congress leader, Tarun Gogoi, during an exclusive interview with InsideNE, has slammed the Conrad Sangma-led National People’s Party (NPP) and called the party the ‘B-group’ of rival Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Talking exclusively to InsideNE about the NEDA alliance and especially the Conrad Sangma-led NPP which recently made a foray in Assam politics, he said, “NEDA is no longer there. Where is NEDA now? NPP is just a B-group of the BJP. Everybody knows who Conrad Sangma is with. He is helping the BJP. In Jorhat, Conrad’s NPP is fielding Himanta’s man, Ajiz, against the Congress candidate Gaurav Gogoi. Thus, there is no difference between Himanta and Conrad.”
Gogoi also knocked the Meghalaya CM over his stand regarding the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and quizzed why the Meghalaya CM has softened his stance regarding the Bill. “If the parties are supporting CAB, they are all on the same boat as the BJP. They might have different names”, he added.
