KOKRAJHAR: Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) executive member Ranjit Basumatary today said almost 50 per cent of the Bodoland Territorial Region Accord clauses have already been implemented over the past few months.
Speaking to the media on the occasion of the first-anniversary celebration of the BTR Accord here, Basumatary, alias BR Ferenga, who led the now-disbanded National Democratic Front of Boroland (S) as general secretary, said: “Almost some 50 per cent of our clauses are already implemented. I believe, today Clause 8.4 is going to be implemented. Clause 8.4 provides for release of ex-gratia for the martyrs and the non-heinous cases will be withdrawn by the home minister of India today.”

He also hoped that peace brought through the BTR Accord in the Bodo inhibited areas will be permanent.
“The Bodo people were not fighting for disturbance, we were fighting for peace. We fought for peace only and that’s why peace has been brought to the BTR by the accord of January 27, 2020. I believe, it will continue in BTR in Assam and in India also,” Basumatary said.
