Outrage over unabated hike in fuel prices continues in Assam. Enraged over the price hike of petroleum products, the Hindu Students Union today demonstrated their protest by burning the effigy of Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at Thana Chariali in Tinsukia district. The activists also shouted slogans against the government and its failure to control the price rise.

It may be mentioned that price of petroleum products have been rising on a regular basis making it difficult for the common man. Petrol was sold retail at Rs 86.45 on Tuesday, a hike of 23 paise than Monday. Diesel was sold at Rs 78.80 on Tuesday, a hike of 27 paise as compared to Rs 77.32 on Monday. There have been a hike of Rs 1.49 in petrol and Rs 1.48 in diesel prices in last 10 days.
