Skill Development Centre for Contractors Essential for Quality Work: Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal

Guwahati, November 23, 2019:

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has stressed for a skill development centre dedicated to the contractors of the state to ensure quality work in the Public Works Department (PWD).

Sonowal believes that a contractors’ skill development centre will aid in understanding the skills required to serve the society in a better way. While speaking at the Seminar Cum Exhibition on Modern Technologies & Construction Materials in Guwahati, he requested PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to set up a skill development centre for contractors.

The Assam CM, who attended the event as the Chief Guest, said, “I strongly believe that a centre is essential. We feel that each contractor can come forward in building the nation. Tata is a good example of how society can be served with quality work.”

Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also attended the Seminar cum exhibition. Sarma said that in the past four years, the PWD has brought tremendous progress and transformation in the state.

The event has been organised by the PWD and NH Department, Government of Assam. It has showcased new materials used in the construction of buildings and roads.

The two-day seminar cum exhibition, held at the Assam Engineering College, is aimed at introducing new technologies to the common people and contractors. Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma believes that the event will help learning about the latest technologies.
