38 persons of Assam who took part in the Tablighi Jamaat congregation at Markaz are returning back to Assam after completion of 14 days' quarantine period in New Delhi.

Kaur informed that transit passes have been issued together with vehicles to carry the persons to their respective destinations. The District Magistrate, South East district requested the District Magistrates of concerned districts of Assam to put the persons under home quarantine for another period of 14 days. 10 persons who returned back to Hailakandi from Tripura were screened at Chauraibari gate along the Assam-Tripura inter-state border. 

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar informed his counterparts of different districts of the state about the release of institutional quarantined persons from the zonal screening camp and requested them to ensure strict active surveillance of the returnees and to take necessary steps as per established protocols in the event of any inmates developing COVID-19 symptoms. 

Corona cases so far

In Northeast India: Tripura has the highest number of covid19 cases followed by Assam. Sikkim so far has 0 home cases. Tablighi Jamaat constituted the earlier cases.

Among the other states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross a thousand deaths. It has recorded 29,100 corona cases with 6,564 cured and 1,068 deaths. The western state is followed by Gujarat and Maharasthra. Gujarat has corona 9,931 cases with 4,035 cured and 606 deaths. Tamil Nadu has crossed 10,108 cases with 2,599 cured and 71 deaths.

India has surpassed China in terms of the total number of Covid19 cases. So, far China has 82,941 cases.

As of 15th May, India has reached 85,940 mark in terms of corona positive cases. The country currently has 53,035 active cases with 30,152 cured and discharged. The total number of deaths is 2,752.
