TET Mandatory for all Madrassa Teachers: High Court

Guwahati, July 22, 2019:

The Gauhati High Court on Monday in an order directed the state education department to conduct Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) before appointing teachers to all madrassas in the state from now on.

As per the latest order of the High Court, no teachers will be appointed in madrassas until and unless they clear TET.

As per the mandate of the RTE Act, the Government of Assam, Department of Elementary Education has decided to conduct Teachers’ Eligibility Test. The objective is to recruit meritorious and qualified teachers, following the guidelines and norms of the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE).
