TINSUKIA: In a sensational incident, a man from Tinsukia district of Assam has allegedly killed his 10-year-old nephew over a family dispute yesterday and buried his dead body in the Backyard of his house.

The accused has been identified as Bikram Das resident of Ledo Kalpara under Margherita in Tinsukia.

The deceased child has been identified as Rahul Das, son of Mantu Das, and Uma Das, resident of the Jagun area.

The incident took place yesterday but has come to light today when Rahul's parents filed a missing person's report at the Ledo Police Station.

Police undertake a detailed investigation on the matter following the complaint filed by Rahul's parents and arrested Bikram Das.

During the interogation, Bikram admitted to committing the crime and that narrated the whole incident of how he killed Rahul.

Bikram said, "I killed my own Nephew."

When the incident was exposed, enraged locals set fire to Bikram's house, but the fire was soon put out by fire tenders.

A case has been registered at Margherita Police station against Bikram Das and has been taken to judicial custody.

Rahul's parents have demanded capital punishment for Bikram.

Meanwhile, Police shot Bikram while he tried to flee from the custody of Margherita police.

In the police firing, Bikram sustained injuries on his left leg.

He was taken to Margherita civil hospital for medical treatment, however, he was later referred to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH)  Dibrugarh.
