According to reports, senior United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) leader Jiten Dutta has been arrested by Tinsukia Police from his private residence in Digboi, allegedly for speaking out against the Citizenship Amendment Act.
According to reports, Dutta's house was gheraoed by the security personnel on December 13, and he was subsequently arrested on December 14. The pro-talks ULFA leader has now been taken to the Tinsukia Sadar Police Station for further interrogation.

It may be mentioned here that Dutta has been outspoken in his resentment against the Citizenship Amendment Act that was recently passed by both the Houses of Parliament.
Dutta has also opined that Assam must stop sending her resources --such as oil, tea, grains, etc -- to the rest of the country until the State is exempted from the purview of the controversial legislation.
Meanwhile, protests are raging across Assam due to the public's general resentment over the Bill.
Upper Assam continues to burn in protests in the aftermath of the passage of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in the Rajya Sabha. According to reports, Chabua town in Dibrugarh saw a night of violent protests on December 13.
Duliajan too has been paralyzed due to the mass movements against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. According to reports, the Oil India Limited (OIL) in the town, has been lying defunct since the last 6 days. The Assam Gas Company, NEEPCO, BNBL, Namrup Fertilizer Company, BCPL, and all the tea estates have also ceased operations due to the unrest over the Citizenship Amendment Act.
