United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) president Pramod Boro has appealed to the people of Assam to cooperate with the Government in combating the dreaded COVID-19 and follow the social distancing as well as maintain the basic hygiene.
Boro reiterated the Assam Government's efforts in curbing the CVID-19 menace and urged the ones with travel history to the Nizamuddin Markaz hotspot to inform the authorities.
"Thousands of people are in quarantine in several districts, be it in the hospitals, homes or the temporary set up at the Stadium. The Government has been appealing to the people to come forward and inform about their travel history or in case of having any of the COVID-19 symptoms. There are so many who have not come out and reported to the Health Department. I appeal everyone to cooperate with the Government and for the sake of their families and themselves, please come up and help keep the virus away from Assam. Please don't hide from the authorities," said Pramod Boro.

Speaking on the lines of the lockdown violation, Boro said that the lockdown has been imposed to protect the people from the virus. "So, please don't roam around and even if you do, please maintain social distance. Our population is huge and doctors are very few. Our health facilities are also not that equipped. Our Health Department is working really hard to deal with the COVID-19 stage, so please follow the rules that have been set for you," said Boro.
The UPPL leader further urged the concerned authorities to implement the distribution of essential items to the needy at the earliest. "The central and State Governments have already issued directions to distribute essential items to the needy. These should be implemented at the earliest to help the unprivileged ones to cope with the current situation."
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Light a Lamp" initiative is just a few hours away, Pramod Boro urged the public to light the lamp or candle for nine minutes at 9 PM on Sunday.
