Assam: BJP workers burn effigy of AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal in Hailakandi

Protests flared up in Hailakandi after AIUDF party chief Maulana Badruddin Ajmal made a controversial sexist statement about the Hindu population.

Notably, on December 3, at 3 pm today, the Hailakandi district committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party staged a protest by burning an effigy of Maulana Badruddin Ajmal in Hailakandi town. 

As per reports, the BJP workers first took out a protest rally from the local BJP office and gathered at the local Netaji Chariwali. 

Later, the workers of the saffron party burnt the effigy of the Maulana and raised slogans against Badruddin Ajmal. 

Meanwhile, BJP Yuva Morcha's Hailakandi district president Milan Das said it was an impact of the madrasa impression education policy. 

"Maulana Badruddin Ajmal has made such a statement because of his education from the madrasa," he added. 

Further, Milan Das remarked that such comments would also be stopped if madrassas are closed down in the state.
