Assam minister Jayanta Mallabaruah holds first district review meeting in Goalpara after taking charge

Assam Minister of Finance, Environment and Forests, and Mines and Minerals, Jayanta Mallabaruah who has also been appointed the Guardian Minister of Goalpara district, held a comprehensive review meeting at the office of the Goalpara Deputy Commissioner on June 9.

The meeting was attended by Goalpara Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Timung, District Development Commissioner Pranab Kumar Bora, Additional Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, and other senior officials of the district administration.

Just two days after assuming charge as the Guardian Minister of Goalpara, Baruah visited the district and chaired his first review meeting with local administrative officials. A major focus of the meeting was the preparedness of the district administration and concerned departments to deal with possible flood situations during the upcoming monsoon season.

The minister reviewed the functioning and progress of several key government departments, including:

Environment and Forest Department

Health and Family Welfare Department

Panchayat and Rural Development Department

Education Department

Agriculture Department

Public Health Engineering Department

Public Works Department (Roads)

Public Works Department (Buildings)

Transport Department

He also assessed the implementation status and progress of various government schemes being carried out in the district by different departments.

During the meeting, Baruah directed all government officials to prioritise the overall development of Goalpara district and ensure that citizens do not face difficulties in accessing government services and welfare benefits.

In a move aimed at strengthening communication between the public and the Guardian Minister's office, Baruah instructed the Goalpara Deputy Commissioner to designate a nodal officer of Assam Civil Service rank for the district. The designated officer will facilitate the submission of public grievances, concerns, and suggestions to the Guardian Minister.

The review meeting marked the beginning of Baruah's oversight role as Guardian Minister, with an emphasis on coordinated administration, effective service delivery, and preparedness for seasonal challenges in Goalpara district.
