Assam: Sribhumi police seize cannabis worth Rs 2.5 crore in major anti-narcotics operation
In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Sribhumi Police on Thursday, November 13, seized cannabis valued at nearly Rs 2.5 crore during a routine naka-checking operation in Patharkandi.
The interception took place at the Kathaltoli Police Outpost, which falls under the Bazarichara Police Station. Security personnel recovered five quintals of cannabis from a Bolero vehicle bearing registration number TR/05/J/1807. The vehicle was reportedly traveling from Tripura towards Patharkandi via Kathaltoli.
While the police successfully seized the contraband, the vehicle’s driver managed to flee, evading arrest. Authorities have launched a manhunt to trace the absconding suspect.
Officials noted that the operation was made possible due to the swift and coordinated response of Sribhumi Police, marking one of the largest narcotics seizures in the region in recent months.
