Four apprehended for cattle theft on Eid eve in Assam’s Dhubri
In a swift operation ahead of Eid celebrations, police in Assam’s Dhubri district apprehended four suspected cattle thieves and recovered two stolen cows from the riverine Ironjongla Part-III area across the Brahmaputra River.
The operation was led by Police Officer Abha Jyoti Rabha of the AM Co Road Police Outpost with support from security personnel and active assistance from local residents. Acting on inputs regarding cattle theft activities in the area, the police team launched a raid and successfully cornered the accused.
During the operation, authorities recovered two cows and seized several sharp-edged weapons allegedly found in the possession of the suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Samer Ali, Rajab Ali, Mofizul Mondal, and Nur Haque Mandal.
Following their apprehension, all four accused were brought to the AM Co Road Bazaar Town Police Outpost for further legal proceedings.
Police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation to determine whether the accused are linked to a larger cattle theft or smuggling network operating in the riverine border areas of Dhubri district.
Officials said further interrogation of the accused is underway, and additional arrests may follow as the investigation progresses.
