Himanta Biswa Sarma misinformed on Delhi discussions: MP Rakibul Hussain
Dhubri Lok Sabha MP Rakibul Hussain on Saturday, December 6 strongly dismissed remarks attributed to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, stating that the Chief Minister had been misinformed about his recent political engagements in Delhi.
Speaking to reporters after addressing a youth gathering in the Srijangram Assembly constituency at Lengthising, Hussain clarified that no details of his Delhi discussions were shared with the Chief Minister. “Whatever I discussed in Delhi, even the Chief Minister does not know the actual details. If someone has briefed him, that information certainly did not come from any of us,” he said.
"What do I have to hide? I have always spoken openly", said Rakibul Hussain.
The Congress MP accused the Chief Minister of pursuing an authoritarian style of governance, claiming that several communities and ethnic groups in Assam have been “betrayed” under his administration. Hussain reiterated that he would continue to raise these issues without hesitation.
“When I speak about his oppressive governance and how different communities have been misled, what is there to hide? These are truths that must be spoken,” he added.
The remarks came during a meeting focused on allegations of vote theft, which saw participation from local youth groups and party workers.
