Man detained in Dibrugarh over suspected cattle theft; luxury vehicle seized

Police in Assam's Dibrugarh district have detained a man on suspicion of involvement in cattle theft and seized a luxury vehicle allegedly linked to the crime.

The detained individual has been identified as Hriday Gogoi, a resident of Bokul Japisajia village. He was taken into custody by Gabhurupathar Police following a late-night operation based on specific intelligence inputs.

According to police, a black luxury vehicle suspected to have been used in cattle theft incidents was recovered from Gogoi's residence. Investigators have also found that the registration number plate affixed to the vehicle was allegedly fake.

The operation was carried out around 2 am under the leadership of Gabhurupathar Police Outpost in-charge Alankar Bora. Police personnel reached the residence of the suspect, seized the vehicle and detained him for questioning.

During preliminary interrogation, Gogoi reportedly claimed that an unidentified person had left the vehicle at his residence and denied ownership or involvement in any criminal activity.

Police have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the vehicle's role in the alleged cattle theft cases and identify other individuals who may be involved. Further investigation is underway.
