NEW DELHI: The air quality in Delhi remains in the 'very poor' category.
On Wednesday morning, the air quality remained in 'very poor' category with AQI touching 346, according to the latest estimates updated by the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).
According to SAFAR estimates updated at 6.30 am, several areas in the national capital including Delhi University, PUSA, Lodhi Road, Mathura Road, IIT-Delhi and Indira Gandhi International Airport (Terminal 3) recorded air quality in the 'poor' category with an AQI of 360, 321, 323, 391, 346 and 339 respectively.
As per SAFAR, AQI between the range of 51 and 100 is considered as 'satisfactory' or 'very good', 101-200 is 'moderate', 201-300 falls under the category of 'poor'. While 300-400 is considered as 'very poor', levels between 401-500 fall under the 'hazardous' category.
On Dec 16, air quality is likely to improve and from 17 onwards significant improvement is likely due to high wind speeds that keep AQI within ‘poor’ or ‘lower end of very poor’ category.
The National Capital Region (NCR) witnessed both 'poor' and 'very poor' air quality.
Gurugram and Noida recorded air quality in 'poor' and 'very poor' category with an AQI of 269 and 334 respectively on Wednesday morning.
