The Meghalaya Government has issued a statement to address the concerns regarding the registration process for tourists and visitors coming to Meghalaya, against the backdrop of the approval of the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Amendment Ordinance 2019.

The Government has informed that although the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Amendment Ordinance 2019 requires registration of non-residents, including visitors, the modalities of the implementation of the Ordinance have not been finalized. Moreover, the registration has not yet begun, it was informed.

"The registration process will be designed keeping in mind the convenience of tourists who are visiting our state", read the communique.
The Government stated that it will be a simple process with both online and offline registration options, and will be similar to the registration when you check into your hotel. Moreover, there will be no need to stand in queues, the Meghalaya Tourism informed via the statement.
