Mizoram has initiated a sponsorship program for the state's IAS aspiring candidates with the aim to encourage Mizo students to join IAS and other central services.
Mizo Youth Commission (MYC) Chairman Vanlaltanpuia said the state has been facing shortage of IAS officers as no new recruits were made since the past few years.

The MYC, had earlier disbursed incentive cash award of Rs 70 lakh to 147 students, who successfully cleared various competitive exams. It had also provided jobs to 207 youths out of which, 151 were employed within Mizoram, while the rest were employed outside the state.
The MYC Chairman while informing about this initiative, said that a second selection test would be held in New Delhi on March 13 after a first test that was held in Aizawl on March 6. After the results are announced on March 15, the selected candidates would be inducted on March 17.

It may be mentioned here that the selected test was held for those students, who had filled the forms for the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary examination, 2020.
The MYC, set up by an Act of the Mizoram State Legislature in 2008, HS been given statutory responsibility for promotion, exploration and embracement of youth welfare.
