Mass murder by NSCN-IM in 1990s: Kukis observe ‘Black Day’NSCN-IM

Imphal (Manipur), September 12, 2018:

Pledging to fight for justice for the massacres of people allegedly by the Isak-Muivah faction of National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM), the Kuki community observed the 25th anniversary of Sahnit-Ni or Kuki Black Day in Manipur's Churachandpur on Wednesday.

In a press statement, the Black Day Organising Committee said, “The Kukis all over the world will once again be observing September 13 as Black Day. It was on this day 25 years ago that more than a thousand Kuki villagers were waylaid and brutally hacked to death by cadres of NSCN-IM. Also, more than 360 villages were destroyed and about one lakh Kukis rendered homeless”.

The statement added: “No doubt, the Kukis had to face the brunt of the Naga wrath for reasons best known to them. There is no denying the fact that the Kukis were butchered and slaughtered like beasts whose brunt children faced the most”.

The organisation said the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) had resolved to view and clamp “Black Day” on September 13 every year until and unless the “Indian government” recognises the untold sufferings meted out to the Kukis.
