Shillong, January 24, 2020:

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday inaugurated the “Heritage Walk” from Ward Lake to Pinewood (Shillong) in a ceremony that was organised by the Meghalaya Tourism department. The inauguration of the Heritage Walk is part of the 48th Meghalaya Day Celebration, being held for a week.

The Chief Minister appreciated the Meghalaya Tourism department that for initiating the “Heritage Walk” and stated that the whole idea behind having it is the belief that there is a culture and heritage in Shillong. There are many places in the city that tourists want to see, but somehow this was not packaged in the right manner, the CM opined.

“So it really is about trying to see the different values that are there and the great things that we have over here, and if we can package it and come out with good stories...that is the idea behind the Heritage Walk”, said Sangma.

“Similarly to what we have done with this, we will come out with more stories about different areas of Meghalaya...this is the beginning and we will take this forward” the Meghalaya Chief Minister added.

Later, the Chief Minister took to Twitter to share a few pictures of his 'heritage walk' along with the caption, "A refreshing start to my day with the Shillong Heritage Walk from Ward's Lake to Pinewood. Meghalaya has such rich history and I'm happy that Meghalaya Tourism is taking due initiative in this. Such wonderful stories about our State's history."
