SIKKIM: A SENIOR NURSE FROM THE STATE ACCORDED WITH FLORENCE NIGHTANGLE AWARDsikkik

A senior nurse from Sikkim presently working at DKK Bhawan in New Delhi has been conferred with Florence Nightangle Award today at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Neelam Rasaily, 43 is the only from Sikkim to receive the award this year. The award is given annually on the occasion of International Nurses’ Day for their outstanding service. The Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda presented the award.

'' I would like to thank my parents, family members and all those who have been a part of my life through thick and thin” said Rasaily over phone from Delhi.She hails from Gangtok.

She is a daughter of Late BK Rasaily and Sonam Keepu Lepcha she completed her schooling from Enchey Senior Secondary School and later did General nursing from Manipal University in Mahe, Karnataka.

She has also done her diploma in nursing in oncology from Tata hospital in Mumbai. From fixing doctors appointment to taking care of the patients from Sikkim in DKK Bhawan , Neelam Rasaily is a hardworking and dedicated government employee.

'' I feel good to see the people from Sikkim going back after getting proper treatment. My job is to provide them all the assistance here in Delhi” she added.

She is married to Suresh Tamang and has two children, Anandika and Abhinav. Prior her posting to Delhi in 2009 she was working in STNM hospital in Gangtok. She is also pursuing post certificate in BSc from IGNOU.
