The rape and murder of a minor girl in Tripura has sent shockwaves across the country. On Friday night, a 17-year-old was raped and burned to death by one Ajay Rudrapal, who had promised to marry her.
She was rushed to the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) with 90 percent burns on Friday, but unfortunately, she succumbed to the injuries.

According to reports, Ajay took the minor to his residence in Santir Bazar area of South Tripura in the guise of marrying her. Her family alleged that the girl was tortured for the past two months, and they set her on fire on Friday evening.
The family has also cited dowry as the reason behind the minor’s death. Locals gathered outside the Hospital after her death and thrashed the accused. The Tripura Police arrived on the scene and arrested Ajay for allegedly raping the girl and burning her to death, with the help of his family members.

This incident has added to the string of crimes against women that have been reported in the past few days. The week began with the brutal rape and murder of a 26-year-old vet in Hyderabad. On Friday, all the four accused of the rape of the vet were killed in a police encounter.
On Saturday, the Unnao rape survivor who was set on fire on Thursday by five men, died at the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.
