Pratima Bhowmik, the Lok Sabha MP from Tripura West parliamentary constituency, donated Rs 1,00,000 from her first month’s salary for Assam flood relief, a BJP leader said here on Wednesday.
Bhowmik, 50, is also the General Secretary of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Tripura.
As per reports, she handed over the amount to an Assam government official in New Delhi on Tuesday.
At least 69 people have died and 33,55,837 have been affected in the deluge that has inundated over 2,000 villages in 17 districts of Assam.
In the meantime, After ‘Khiladi’ Akshay Kumar’s ‘double dhamaka’ of Rs 1 crore each for the animals and the humans affected by the devastating floods of Assam, ‘Big B’ Amitabh Bachchan has come up with a bumper donation which will hopefully help alleviate the sufferings of the people of Assam affected by floods.
According to reports, the Bollywood superstar has made a huge donation of Rs. 51 lakh to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
It may be mentioned that ‘Big B’ Amitabh also seems to have recently become a big fan of Assam’s ‘Dhing Express’ Hima Das, as he had used a creative of the Assam Police to congratulate her for winning 5 Gold medals in Europe within a month. However, the megastar was criticized for using an edited version of the creative and for not crediting the Assam Police for their original attractive content.
