Kangkan Rabha Becomes First Model from Northeast to Walk on Milan Ramp

Milan, June 19, 2019:

Assam boy Kangkan Rabha has become the first model from the Northeast to walk at the hallowed ramp of the Milan Fashion Week Men's at Milan in Italy.

By doing so, the 19-year-old has become the first model from the Northeast to walk on the much-celebrated ramp.

It is indeed a great feat as Milan is recognized as one of the world’s four fashion capitals.

Kangkan Rabha, who is a student of Icon Academy in Guwahati, expressed his excitement via social media platform Instagram. He wrote: “Couldn’t ask for a better start. With the banner, @zegnaofficial Thank you so much for letting debut at your show."

In 2009, Milan was declared as the "fashion capital of the world" by the Global Language Monitor that tracks how many times a city is posted in social media using "fashion capital," even surpassing its relative cities. The next year, Milan dropped out of the top four falling to sixth place, yet in 2011 it returned to fourth place. 2012 saw the city suffer its lowest ranking to date, as it slipped to eighth place.
