PM Narendra Modi Seeks to Incorporate 'Gandhism' in Bollywood Cinema

Mumbai, October 20, 2019:

PM Narendra Modi hosted the 'Change Within' initiative in New Delhi, on the evening of 19 October. The glittering ceremony was attended by several Bollywood biggies including Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Ekta Kapoor, Rajkumar Hirani, Kapil Sharma, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Sajid Nadiadwala. However, South Indian stars were glaringly absent from the event.

The focus was on inviting the film industry to create films and television shows that popularise Mahatma Gandhi and Gandhism, to mark the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation. During the ceremony, the Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan reiterated the need for Gandhian principles.

Now, South actor Ram Charan’s wife Upasana has questioned why no stars from the South, which is as big of an industry as Bollywood, were present during the occasion.

Ramcharan's wife Upasana, taking to Instagram, posted the following message directed at the PM Narendra Modi, "We in the South of INDIA admire you & are Proud to have you as our Prime Minister. With all due respect we felt that the representation of Leading personalities & cultural icons was limited only to Hindi Artists and the The South Film Industry was neglected. I express my feelings with pain & hope it’s taken in the right spirit."

An Instagram user, in an effort to console Upasana, wrote, "May b the leaders have barriers regarding artists... but the art has no barriers.. even though our aritists are neglected.. our movies are reaching every part of the country.. thats a positive sign though!!"
