It seems like 'cow vigilantism' has finally found its way to Germany, of all places! Recently, some people from North Indian came out protesting against the serving of beef dishes by the Kerala Samajam in the Indian fest held in Germany's Frankfurt, reported Kaumudi online.
It has been reported that some North Indians belonging to certain 'right wing' groups took affront when they spotted Porotta (paratha) and Beef in the food menu of the fest. Soon, the North Indians started protests and demanded that the stall be shut down. They claimed that the serving of beef is "an insult to the culture of India."
The Indian Consulate was soon forced to ask the Kerala Samajam to shut down the stall.
However, some bummed out foodies who were attending the fest, informed the German police. The police soon reached the spot and stated that Germany does not forbid anyone from eating what they like. Police also reportedly told the protesters that it is not their country to hold protest against the consumption of beef. The protesters had no option but to leave the place in peace.
Later, the KSF boycotted the Indien Fest and held a silent protest in Frankfurt against the outrage against their serving of beef.
Plato Pathrose, a member of the Malayali community in Germany wrote on Facebook, "We consider the cow to be an animal and not as our mother. We believe in unity in diversity and we will not blame anyone for eating beef rather we will look if the other person has something to eat."
Netizens have severely criticized the North Indians for protesting against the person's right to eat whatever they want.
