KABUL: Taliban-affiliated men abducted 150 p, predominantly Indian citizens, from a neighbourhood near Hamid Karzai International Airport early this morning, a local media outlet Kabul Now reported.
The abductees include some Afghan citizens and Afghan Sikhs, said a source, who managed to flee with his wife and a few others. However, the majority of the abductees are Indian citizens, added the source.
He went on to say that they all boarded eight minivan vehicles at 1:00 a.m. this morning on their way to the Kabul airport for evacuation, but that they were unable to enter due to a lack of cooperation.

According to the report, a gang of "unarmed Taliban approached them and then carried them all to Tarakhil, an eastern suburb of Kabul, after physically beating them.
The source added that he, his wife, and few others managed to escape by by jumping out the minivan windows.
However, a Taliban spokesman, Ahmadullah Waseq rejected the allegations regarding abduction of more than 150 people among which most of them are Indian citizens.

However, the government has yet to issue an official confirmation.
