Assam Rifles troops and Manipur Police, in two separate operations, apprehended an arms smuggler and recovered weapons and warlike stores from Manipur's Kalaikhong, Thoubal and Chinung, Imphal East on October 13.
The dealer has been identified as Md Riyajuddin of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Mayai in Thoubal district. Two AK rifles, one pistol and magazines were seized from Lilong Bazar in the district.

A joint team of police commandos and Assam Rifles personnel pulled up an arms dealer based on specific information. The joint team led by inspector N Sadananda Singh, officer-in-charge of the commando unit of Thoubal district police, and a column of 6 Assam Rifles apprehended Riyajuddin alias Tomba (aged 38) around 7.30 pm, said SP (Thoubal) S Ibomcha Singh, who supervised the ops.

In its follow up action, the team recovered the weapons from the Lilong Turel Ahanbi area, the SP added.
