A joint team of Assam Rifles, Manipur police's Narcotics and Affairs of Borders (NAB) team and two anti-drug NGOs recovered 63 kg of ephedrine drugs worth Rs 6.3 crore from Lilong area in Thoubal district. The recovery came at a time when different security agencies have stepped up the drive to destroy massive cultivation of opium in the remote corners of the state.
Based on a tip-off regarding movement of a heavy consignment of arms and drugs at Lairakhong area, 5 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles troops, sleuths of NAB, Thoubal police and volunteers of Islamic Cultural Research Organisation (ICRO) and All Lilong Anti Drug Association, carried out a search at Liarakhong area. The drug was recovered from inside the pipeline of a house in Nganglou paddy field.
