Licypriya Kangujam, 9-year-old activist from Manipur, joins Farmers' Protest at Singhu border

NEW DELHI: Licypriya Kangujam, a child environmental activist from India's Manipur state, has officially joined the protests against the "anti farmer" Bills at the Singhu Border. She has been sharing videos and pictures where she can be seen interacting with the protesters at the border.

In a series of tweets, the young activist shared that she has joined the thousands of farmers at the New Delhi border who are demanding the Centre to roll back the 3 controversial laws.

Kangujam also met and interacted with the children of the protesters. "Met with children who are spending last 14 days in this cold freezing temperature with their parents and grandparents at farmers protest site in the middle of the highway at Sanghu Border," she wrote in a tweet.

Talking to media persons, Kangujam said that farmers are the biggest victims of the climate change. "Our farmers are the bigest victim of climate change. Frequent floods, droughts are destroying crops. Thousands of farmers are dying evry year. Leaders must listen to the voice of the farmers,' she stated.

Heads of all farmer unions will observe hunger strike from 8 am to 5 pm on Monday, farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni said today at the Singhu Border.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said he will fast along with farmers on Monday to protest the centre's new agricultural laws that have triggered a massive demonstration since last month on the outskirts of the capital.

The Delhi-Jaipur highway was shut down this afternoon as farmers started a tractor march from Shahjahanpur on the Rajasthan-Haryana border as part of their escalating 18-day protest against the Centre's contentious farm laws.

One highway was opened as farmers removed blockade from the Delhi-Noida border at Chilla. Today's rally will be followed by an all-India hunger strike on Monday when the demonstrators plan to hold protests at district offices.
