Two days after a powerful IED blast at Koireng BSF gate killing two personnel and injuring three innocent people, police made a breakthrough and arrested two cadres of PREPAK and three of their accomplices involved in the blast.
Addressing a press meet held at the Conference Hall of Imphal West Police Headquarters, Director General of Police, LM Khaute said, the two arrested cadres of PREPAK were identified as Thoudam Suresh, aged 27 son of Tomba from Leishangthem Thoudam Mamang Leikai and Thoudam Aboi, aged 30, son of Ibocha, both from Leishangthem Thoudam Mamang Leikai presently living at Mantripukhri Chumbreithong.
The three accomplices who helped in executing blast were identified as Thokchom Ranjit, aged 58, son of late Yaima from Langol Type 2, his wife Thokchom Ongbi Tharongoubi Leima, aged 55 and Irom ongbi kumudini, aged 60, wife of late Iboyaima from Samushang Lairembi leirak. DGP LM Khaute also maintained that following the blast, a case was registered at Heingang Police and a massive search operation was jointly launched at suspected areas under Imphal East, Imphal West and Thoubal Districts. Acting on a tip off, Thoudam Suresh was first arrested yesterday around 9 in the morning. On his revelation, the other accomplices were arrested by the police.
