Manipur Police nabbed a cadre of the newly formed United Kuki National Army (UKNA) identified as Nguljalen Haokip from Boljol village, Churachandpur district. Police alleged the apprehended cadre had served a demand letter of Rs 50 lakh to the chief executive officer (CEO) of Churachandpur District Autonomous Council (ADC) two days ago. State police have been investigating into floating of the new outfit, United Kuki National Army (UKNA) since the day the CEO) lodged a complaint two days ago. A copy of the demand letter was also seized from the alleged cadre who has admitted to have printed and serve demand letter through post office.
More than two dozens of Kuki based militant groups are operating in the Kuki dominated hill areas of the state and maximum of them are under peace talks with the government under two umbrella groups, Kuki National Organization (KNO) of 11 militant groups and United People’s Front (UPF) of eight militant groups.
