BL Santosh, Sambit Patra assess political situation in Manipur; BJP MLAs hope for early govt formation
Amid growing anticipation over the formation of a new government in Manipur, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs have expressed optimism that the process will be completed at the earliest, though no specific timeline has been confirmed.
Senior BJP leaders B.L. Santosh, the party’s National General Secretary (Organisation), and Sambit Patra, North East In-Charge, arrived in Imphal today to assess the political situation and ongoing developments in the state.
Soon after their arrival, they held a closed-door meeting with BJP legislators, which saw the participation of almost all MLAs, followed by an interaction with BJP karyakartas.

Following the meeting, former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh told reporters that discussions covered a wide range of issues including the state’s grievances, the condition of internally displaced persons, free movement along national highways, and the overall strengthening of the party organisation in Manipur.
“We have also raised the issue of government formation,” he said, adding that the central leaders had assured them that a popular government would be reinstated soon.
BJP spokesperson Kh. Ibomcha reiterated that the process of government formation is underway. “The government will be formed as soon as possible,” he said, reflecting the growing expectation among party ranks for political stability to return to the state.
