Shillong, April 20, 2020:

A person from Meghalaya, a family friend of the first case of the COVID-19 in the state, has also tested positive for the virus. The state has recorded 12 cases of the virus so far and one person has died.

Tweeting out about this development, Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma wrote, "One of the family friend of the positive patient has also been tested positive. The person is already in quarantine centre. The total number is at 12. One deceased and other 11 are stable."

Meanwhile, while his state grapples with the Sangma further informed that a list of 1,617 people stranded in different parts of the

country has already been prepared and the grant will be transferred.

In his daily briefing earlier today, Sangma urged elderly citizens to refrain from going out as far as possible.

“We have seen throughout the world that the coronavirus affects the elderly more. Therefore, I would urge our elderly, our senior citizens to refrain from going out to crowded places. They should keep themselves safe because this virus is something that we have seen throughout the world affects the elderly more,” the Chief Minister said in his daily media briefing.
