SHILLONG: Meghalaya's 49th statehood day was celebrated today at the U Soso Tham auditorium in the city on Thursday.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma during his address called upon everyone to work together jointly with a positive attitude towards further development of the state.
On the occasion of Meghalaya's 49th Statehood Day, Sangma also reminded the people of Meghalaya of the sacrifices made by former leaders and forefathers for securing the state for the people of Meghalaya.

"Raised the curtain for the Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Meghalaya's Statehood in 2022 and also felicitated awardees of the Meghalaya Day Excellence Award 2021. I congratulate all awardees of the Meghalaya Day Award," Sangma later wrote in a tweet.
Based upon recommendations of the advisory committee for the Meghalaya Day Award 2021, the Meghalaya Cabinet in January last approved the three recipients of the award which include prominent artist Raphael Warjri for the ‘U Tirot Sing Award for Arts & Literature,’ Rev DM Sangma for ‘Patogan Sangma Award for Social Service’ and Hame Shaniah Suiam for ‘U Kiang Nangbah Award for sports and games’.
