Tura, March 7, 2019:

Mukul Sangma, former Meghalaya Chief Minister and Congress candidate from Tura Lok Sabha Constituency, has kickstarted his poll campaign on Saturday.

Interestingly, Mukul started his campaign from Adokgre village in North Garo Hills district which has been dubbed 'Chenangre' (place of victory) by rivals National People's Party (NPP).

President of the Meghalaya state Congress Committee Dr. Celestine Lyngdoh, former Congress MLA of Kharkhuta constituency Cherak W. Momin and many other Congress leaders took part in the campaign. A huge bike rally was also taken out to support Mukul from Kharkhuta village and they ended the rally at Adokgre.

Addressing his supporters, Sangma said: "The late P A Sangma started his political career from Congress, then NCP, then Trinamool Congress, then NPP. Now NPP comes with many other parties like BJP, UDP to fight against Congress Party because BJP and NPP know that without collaboration they can never fight against the Congress."

Mukul further requested the villagers of Adokgre to cast their votes to him to give him a chance to develop the region.

Meghalaya heads to the polls on April 11, with two Lok Sabha seats, Shillong and Tura, up for grabs.
