Meghalaya Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Monday, June 9 addressed the recent high-profile murder case involving the Raghuvanshi couple, describing it as a "love triangle" that escalated into a contract killing. He commended the state police for swiftly solving the case within a week.
Speaking to the media, Lyngdoh said, “It is clearly a case that involved a love triangle, and the main accused had hired contract killers to execute a heinous crime. We congratulate the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for cracking the case within seven days.”
According to the minister, four individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. Sonam Raghuvanshi has been identified as the mastermind, while the three other accused — Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh, and Anand Kurmi — are all contract killers hailing from Indore.
“This case stands as testimony to the efficiency and capability of our police force,” Lyngdoh added. “Meghalaya continues to welcome tourists from across India and abroad. We are committed to enhancing coordination with the local tourism fraternity to ensure safety and upscale preventive measures.”
