CHAMPHAI: In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Assam Rifles (East) recovered a huge amount of contraband areca nuts from Champhai district of Mizoram today.
The contraband areca nuts weighing 40,000 Kgs were seized from Khuangphah area of Champhai during a joint operation conducted by Assam Rifles and Customs Department based on specific information.

The approximate cost of the areca nuts is estimated to be around Rs 1.56 crore.
The recovered contraband was handed over to the Customs department for further legal proceedings.
