Former Mizoram Chief Minister and Congress President Lal Thanhawla has accused the BJP party of trying to establish a ‘religion-based kingdom’ in the country.
The veteran Congress leader lashed out at the BJP party at a political session at Congress Bhavan in Aizawl and sated that there are many Hindus who do not agree with the BJP’s “bid to transform India into a Hindu kingdom.”
The former Chief Minister also warned that the attempt of the BJP to turn India into a Hindu nation would result in “national disintegration.”
The five-time former Chief Minister also lashed out at the Zoramthanga-led MNF Government for raising the issue of alcohol prohibition just before the Assembly elections which were held in Mizoram in 2018.
It may be mentioned that the former Chief Minister took part in the agitations against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in Mizoram.
Polling for the lone Lok Sabha seat in Mizoram and the by-poll to the Aizawl West Assembly constituency were held on Thursday.
