Mizoram Govt. to Organise Unity Festivals Worldwide to Promote ‘Brotherhood’

The Mizoram Government headed by Chief Minister Zoramthanga will be organising unity festivals across the world.

In a recent announcement he said that the unity festivals will be held in order to ensure ‘integration and brotherhood’ of all Mizos across the globe.

The Mizoram government has allocated Rs 1 crore for the upcoming festival targeted to unite the Mizo diaspora.

Zoramthanga, in his speech, on August 15 said, “Holding of Mizo unity festivals all over the world aiming to make sure the integration and brotherhood of all Mizos, is a part of our earlier commitment,” he said. The government aims to foster brotherhood among the Mizo people.

Apart from this, the Mizoram government was also in the limelight recently for launching its flagship programme, Socio-Economic Development Policy (SEDP), for all round development of the state and achieve self-sufficiency in food grains.

The Policy is aimed to boost progress and transform Mizoram into a welfare state. SEDP also intends to achieve self-sufficiency in food grains and improve the social life of the Mizos, thereby bringing peace and happiness.

As per the 2011 census, Mizoram has a population of 1,091,014. The state is considered to be a closed knit society with a Christian majority.

The Mizoram government has been adopting measures to develop the state in all the key sectors, including environmental conservation. The Aizawl Municipal Corporation recently also passed the ‘AMC Solid Waste Management laws’ to make the city a ‘plastic-free city’. Moreover, recently, the state has been declared as the 13th Open Defecation Free (ODF) state in the country.
