Manipal Hospital Kolkata holds CPR training in Aizawl to empower journalists with life-saving skills
In a bid to strengthen health awareness and emergency preparedness in Mizoram, Manipal Hospital EM Bypass, Kolkata, conducted a CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training session for members of the Mizoram Journalists’ Association (MJA) in Aizawl on November 10. The session was organized under the hospital’s outreach initiative, “Anveshana – Medical Education for Media.”
Held at Hotel Regency, the programme aimed to train participants in essential life-saving skills to tackle cardiac emergencies effectively. Medical experts from Manipal Hospital demonstrated step-by-step CPR procedures and explained how timely intervention within 18 minutes can significantly increase the chances of survival during cardiac arrest.
Journalists attending the event were awarded CPR Training Certificates and Health Cards from Manipal Hospital EM Bypass. The health cards will enable them to access multiple healthcare services at Manipal facilities across the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Raja Mazumder, a specialist from Manipal Hospital, underscored the critical role of CPR awareness in emergency response. “Cardiac arrest can strike anyone, anywhere, and immediate action can make the difference between life and death. Knowing how to perform CPR empowers individuals to save lives before medical help arrives,” he said.
Dr. Mazumder further highlighted that Manipal Hospital has been conducting similar CPR training programs to spread health literacy and promote community readiness in emergencies. “We have trained over 4,000 individuals across five locations in Kolkata, and our goal is to expand these programs to reach more regions,” he added.
