The state BJP in Nagaland has vehemently denounced a “fictitious report” circulating in social media under the heading “Has Ram Madhav landed the BJP in trouble in Nagaland?” In a release issued by the media cell of Nagaland BJP said that the News Joint, an online news portal, had reported that national BJP leader and in-charge North East, Ram Madhav was caught by the NSCN with two women in a hotel in Nagaland. The state BJP said that the report “sought to tarnish the good image and integrity” of Madhav. “The report purportedly written by News Joint, which seems to be another fake news agency or channel is devoid of any truth and written with malicious intent,” it stated.
The state BJP said that it had taken this fake news issue with all seriousness and added that it will be initiating prompt and fitting action against those behind spreading the fabricated news. “Appropriate sections of the law and the IT Act would be applied to penalize and punish those responsible for the mischief,” it added.
